WHO WE ARE

My business was established in 2004 after I gained my qualification in bookkeeping. I’m passionate about my work, I really enjoy doing it and love using my knowledge and skills to help my clients in their businesses.

My bookkeeping experience spans 18 years, working with a wide range of businesses and specialising in small to medium sized enterprises. No job is too small or difficult.

As a MYOB partner, I specialise in MYOB and use Xero accounting software as well. I’m proficient with single touch payroll and all my services can be conducted either onsite at your office, or remotely from mine.

I know how crucial it is to ensure all bookkeeping, payroll, superannuation and tax recording and reporting is kept up to date, both legally and from the perspective of the business owner. Ensuring your books accurately reflect the current state of your business means you can plan for your future and that of the business.

WHY CHOOSE ME?

I am a qualified, certified and registered BAS Agent and a member of The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers. I have professional indemnity insurance and I’ve been in business for myself since 2004. I have always been interested in doing bookkeeping, since my husband was in business many years ago.

When the GST was introduced, qualified bookkeepers were suddenly in demand and bookkeeping became a much needed profession, so I decided to become a BAS agent.

I am passionate about what I do and that is why I am contactable at any time, morning or night. It is rewarding for me at the end of the day to see how much happier my clients are knowing that all their financial reporting obligations are met and their books are ready for the accountant at tax time.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A BOOKKEEPER?

First determine which services you require and then seek out the right person based on those requirements. If you need BAS services, a registered bookkeeper should be able to provide you with their registered BAS agent number. You can then check the validity on the Tax Practitioner's Board website.

Have a good chat before you engage a bookkeeper. You want your bookkeeper to be around for the longer term, so make sure you feel comfortable with this person and the services they can provide for your business. Having a bookkeeper who is mobile is also highly beneficial.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BOOKKEEPER AND A CERTIFIED BOOKKEEPER AND BAS AGENT?

A bookkeeper is a person who carries out basic bookkeeping functions as ‘keeper of the books’. The qualification is a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping). It is possible that not all people who would answer an advert for a bookkeeper will have this qualification, so it’s a good idea to check.

A certified bookkeeper is a certificate qualified bookkeeper who is also a member of a relevant industry association, ie. Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB). To become certified with ICB you must have qualifications plus proven performance of bookkeeping services at a significant level for a period exceeding two years.

A BAS agent is legally able to provide BAS services and BAS advice. This is a certificate qualified bookkeeper who is also compliant with specific criteria and has registered with the ATO to obtain a BAS agent licence.

This legislation was implemented in 2010 to provide businesses with more protection and security. A BAS agent adheres to a strict code of conduct, has appropriate insurances and maintains continuing professional education. A BAS agent is all about qualifications, experience, competence and professionalism.
